Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas
The Single Parent Scholarship Fund of Northwest Arkansas, Inc. (SPSF NWA) works to help single parent families become financially stable and independent. We do this by providing direct financial assistance to low-income single parents who are pursuing a career-related course of study in order to gain sufficient employment to meet the basic needs of their families.

WHO WE SERVE
SPSF NWA serves residents of Carroll, Madison, and Washington counties who are living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty guideline, have custody of one or more minor children, and are enrolled in post-secondary education. In 2010 we anticipate providing direct financial assistance to 120 families (100 in Washington County, 10 in Carroll County and 10 in Madison County).
SCHOLARSHIPS
We offer direct financial assistance in the form of scholarships each academic semester. Unlike traditional scholarships, Single Parent Scholarships through SPSF NWA are not restricted to books or tuition, but can be used for general living expenses such as child care, gasoline, rent, utilities, car insurance or even groceries. Full time students (taking 12 or more credit hours) receive $1,500 per semester while part-time students (taking 6 or more credit hours) receive $750. Summer scholarships are $750.
FAMILY ACTIVITIES
In addition to direct financial assistance, we partner with other community groups to provide opportunities for personal growth and family recreation that our students would not be able to afford. We also provide information and referrals to other agencies to address needs outside the scope of our service
